Got any suggestion.

Need advice on getting ready for a clean install and getting all the right
drivers and firmware for my internal and external drives. My external is a
lite-on sohw 832s dvd burnner r/rw, my internal is a hl-dt-st rw/dvd
gcc-4243n combo drive. I have the other software and drivers needed. I
have a
windows xp disc for the installation.
Now here is the problem i have tried to do a fresh install before and it
would not let me delete the partition that my os is on. I have the option
of
putting it on another partion if i do that then can i delete the other
partition. Help please.
