Hello,
Apologies for delayed response, I have been away from town and office.
So,
1. Ctrl-Alt-Delete doesn't bring the Task manager or anything else, the
PC just remains stuck with the blue screen.
2. Applying Reset will bring me to the same blue screen. I have only
the keyboard and monitor as peripherals, have disconnected the CD
station. What else to disconnect?!
3. Windows CD XP face reads: Version 2002 then copyrights small fonts
text, then some text about "For distribution with a new PC only..."
4. The original problem occurred after I installed a free anti virus
software called AVG http://free.grisoft.com/. Before that I had an anti
virus program called F-secure http://www.f-secure.com/. Note that I
didn't do uninstall F-secure before AVG installing.
I though initially that PC got infected with a virus that produces
continuous reboot in the period after F-Secure expired until have
installed the AVG.
4. My computer has been assembled from components in 2004, it is not
DELL nor HP.
processor Intel Pentium IV 2800MHz (800MHz) HT 0.0 2
Gigabyte Radeon 9200 128MB
Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 120GB memory
Asus P4C800 Gold motherboard Intel Pentium
Kingston 256MB DDR 266Mhz original RAM
Grateful for your help,
Lucia
