Re: How do I run the "guided help" from the recovery counsel?

I hate to keep bothering this newsgroup with this, but I clicked on the
"Guided Help" file and got this error, "Class Already Exists".
I should mention that when I could not boot up my PC, I installed Win XP Pro
on my other partition. That is what I am using as my good PC. Maybe I should
follow the manual instructions from the KB article instead.
Thank you for your help.

OK here is the title of the KB article:
"How to recover from a corrupted registry that prevents
Windows XP from
starting"
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;Q307545
There are instructions what to do
OR
They have a file that a person can download and use to do the
same task.
I have downloaded the file and put it on a floppy disk.
My question is how do I execute the file from the Recovery
Counsel prompt?
Please do not reply unless you know the answer.
Thank you.

If you're still working on this problem, you might want to try
the following.
I'm taking for granted that you've already downloaded the
Guided Help file named 307545.exe to your working computer.
Double click on that file.
Select "Another computer" when you're asked where you want to
run Guided Help.
Hit Next and select "Do it automatically".
The program should now download a file named Guided_Help.exe.
Before you hit the Next button, do the following.
Open up Windows Explorer or My Computer and navigate to your C
drive.
There should be a folder on C whose name is a bunch of random
letters and numbers.
Open this folder and copy the following files to your Desktop.
regcopy1.txt
regcopy2. txt
regcopyreadme.txt
Close the folder and return to Guided Help.
Save Guided_Help.exe to your Desktop.
Close the program.
Copy the following files to a floppy disk.
Guided_Help.exe
regcopy1.txt
regcopy2.txt
Open regcopyreadme.txt.
This document gives you the procedure to use on the problem
computer.
Start the Recovery Console on the problem computer.
Once you've logged on, put the disk you created earlier in the
floppy drive.
Type the following after the C:\Windows prompt.
batch A:\regcopy1.txt.
Hit Enter.
When the file copying is finished, take out the floppy.
Type Exit at the prompt and hit the Enter key.
Don't boot off the CD, let the computer boot into Windows.
Once you're logged on to Windows, run Guided_Help.exe off the
floppy.
What you do from here on may differ from the instructions
outlined in regcopyreadme.txt.
The best scenario is that System Restore will be able to take
the system back to a time before the problem started.
Good luck
