A factor which disillusions new buyers is the inordinate time which Vista

Nothing in the literature tells the buyer the computer will be unresponsive
-or doing strange things like popping whole a series of DOS windows- for this
insane length of time, either. I've seen a least one case where the erstwhile
Vista user assumed it to be stuck in an endless loop, and declared the
computer faulty.
IIRC early Compaqs used to cause a lengthy series of reboots and weird
behaviour on first boot of Windows 3.1, but at least in that case they
indicated onscreen that the system was still being loaded. Plus, they at
least had the excuse of being run on a processor of miniscule power by
today's standards.
This is by no means the worst gripe with Vista, but it's symptomatic of its
generally poor user-experience.
Can`t afford Vista , but I should think 30 min`s to boot ; something
is wrong .
