Hi Mathon,
Maybe when you installed the card and drivers for the first time you hadn't let the operating system configure itself for the software and the card. I remember the ATI CCC application tests the installation and gives the user a message and says the screen may go black for a few moments several times ..
Maybe reinstall with Antivirus disabled. Be disconnected fro the internet. Turn off any Atuo update features that may be running.
Try a clean boot.

Hey, guys i need some help figuring out what the problem is, i had an x300
then switched to an 8600 and now i keep getting random crashes, i repleaced
the gpu with another model tried 3 differnt drivers and it dosnt just happen
in games i could be talking on msn and then it would just go.
The system for all compeunts runs between 30C-45C (the gpu is the hotest) my
voltage is 3.3- 3.22 5 - 4.97 12 - 12.09 5 (standby) 4.9
My system specs are as follows

Windows XP Pro SP2
Intel Core 2 Duo (2.4GHz)
Asus P5B Socket 775 Intel 965 Express
320 GB 7,200RPM Sata Seagate Harddrive
OCZ (OCZ2P8001GK) DDR2 PC2-6400 Platinum 1GB (2x512MB) Dual Channel Kit
XFX 8600GT
LG GSA-H50N 18X Burner
I already ran memtest and occd(for 30min) both are fine. your help is
greatly apricaiated as all i want is a stable system. thank you for your help
