Restore files are here C:\System Volume Information, but you need to have
Admin. rights and be added as a user in System Volume Information
Properties
under the Security tab in order to view the folder. Do not try to restore
from here, just view the files to determine the newest file.

Yes it worked. Thank you.

Tried to located the folder that has my restore file so I could verify
that
some new ones were created when I ran it after being re-installed.
Searched
and could not find them even though my folder options says to show hidden
files. Do you know where they are?

Just recently I tried to run system restore without success for
winxp-pro.
It won't even open and comes up with error message about vstrui.exe

syrstr.dll. Ran chkdsk and no change. Anyone know how to solve this
problem?

Hello Dr.

Try this:

Re-install System Restore

Have your installation CD handy (if you installed Windows from a CD),
or know if the installation files are on your hard drive in an i386
folder.

Go to Start => Run and type in (or better copy/paste):

rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 C:\WINDOWS
\inf\sr.inf

Spaces: after exe; before and after DefaultInstall; before and after
