If you have PostScript Type 1 fonts, you install them by pointing the font
installer to the folder containing the .pfm files.

You should be able to copy the fonts folder at:
C:\windows\fonts
Copy that folder to a USB memory or CD. Then on the new PC, simply choose
to install new fonts, point the installer to the copied folder, select
all.
You will obviously have many duplicated, just skip those during the
installation.
It's unlikely that W98 had any fonts not carried over to XP. XP does have
some newer ones (Tahoma and Georgia come to mind). Over the course of
some
years and many software installs, you are bound to have gotten a few other
odd ones installed by various programs.

Hi Val or anyone else,
I had copied "all" of my fonts from my old Gateway PC to my new Dell
PC. However, in the Gateway Font Folder it shows 1122 objects and when
I installed fonts in my Dell PC, I chose 'Select All" and then skip
all those duplicates. After I finished, I look at my Dell Font folder
and it only shows 830, then I clicked Install New Fonts again, every
time I did that the number of fonts increased and now I have 859.
Could someone please tell me why not all 1122 fonts were copied onto
my Dell PC, do only "TrueType fonts" copied only but not Post Script
Outlines or PostScript Metrics fonts?
Any comments/suggestions will be much appreciated. Thank you.
Thomas
