Re: Re: Windows XP won't recognize internal hdd on re-install

Aha, this was the problem, thanks alot!

If your internal drive/s is/are SATA drive/s it may be that you have to install
the drivers for it/them during install. The drivers usually come with your
mother board drivers & have to be copied to a floppy disc. When installing
Windows you'll see a short message on the bottom of the screen (press F6 to
install ATA/SCSI drivers) it'll then check the floppy drive & install the
drivers later during the install.

OK I tried that, chose "choose drive" and copied files to HDD, then when it
rebooted I got a BSOD

I tried booting from disc and it went to the drives selection but didn't
show any drives, so I hit enter anyway and I got a BSOD.

I tried repair instead of install, but it did the same as above

I tried going to the recovery console, but it didn't show any of my hdds
either.

Could my disc be bad?

It's OEM and came with my computer, this is the first time I've tried to use
it.

If your WinXP still boots up Ok, try a reinstall from there. Just select
new install and not upgrade. There's a advanced tab
you can click and that will give you the option of which partition to
select.

Here's a crazy problem, I'm trying to reinstall windows, but it doesn't
recognize either of my internal hdds.

Windows will boot fine, but when I try to reinstall it, none of my
internal
drives will appear in the disk selection menu. External USB drives and
memory
cards will appear, but not my internal ones.

Any ideas?

DM
