Hi folks,
I have a laptop computer that is 3 years old(WinXP, 30GB HD, 512MB Ram,
1.5GHZ Pentium processor) that I am working on. I keep getting the
following errors:
1. As the computer is booting up, I get a bsod with the following error
"PAGE_FAULT_IN_NOPAGED_AREA"
2. After Windows XP starts up and boots, before I can access/click
anything on the desktop I get the error "Generic Host Process for Win32
Services has encountered a problem."
3. As the computer is booting up, I get a bsod with the following error
"Memory Management." The computer won't even start after this error. It
tells me to contact my local administrator.
4. Additionally, various programs repeatedly crash such as Firefox web
browser. There are also times when the computer will start up but none
of the menu options such as clicking "Start" are responsive to being
clicked.
What I have tried so far:
1. About 6 months ago, I kept getting the Page Error mentioned in #1
above and I had someone try to fix the computer. They thought it was an
issue with the hard drive and so they replaced it, but the issues have
persisted.
2. I updated all critical Windows XP files.
3. I have run AdAware (Found 212 files) and Spyware S&D (Found 4
files)
Any suggestions on how to proceed next would be greatly appreciated
