Hi
I have a problem with most, but not all, of my programs being missing
from
the "All Programs" part of the start menu. Start brings up the start
menu
with some recently used programs in the left pane and My Docs, My
computer,
etc in the right pane. Clicking on All Programs brings up a new pane wit
a
small number of the programs on the notebook. But it never expands to
show
the rest. I can find the programs by exploring the C drive-Program files
and
can get to the executable to launch them.

MS would not help as Windows came pre installed and Gateway responded
with
"try system restore". System Restore does not work. I choose a date that
is
bold and try to proceed but after the reboot get an error message that
System Restore can't restore to xx date and no changes have been made.
Have
tried different dates to no avail

I am running Win XP Home SP2 with all updates current
Norton Internet Security 2006

All of this started on a cold boot.

TIA

Harmon

I did a System Restore in Safe Mode and got the rest of the programs
showing up in the All Programs.. Then a new mystery: No games in the
games folder. Went to add/remove Windows components and unchecked and
rechecked each program and rebooted and still not there. As I knew the
executable for solitaire was sol.exe I ran that from start-run and it
works just fine. Opened and closed it about ten-fifteen times hoping it
would show up in MFU programs in the start menu but no luck
TIA

Open Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, click the Add/Remove Windows
components button in the left pane. Locate Accessories, double-click, do
the same with Games, deselect the games, close the applet. Go back in and
add the games.
