Re: What do these chkdsk errors mean?

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

feniks,

Thanks very much for your feedback. That puts me at ease. And in fact,
I had just logged in with the purpose of posting the same thing:

I just tested 2 different XP machines at work, and they also came up
with the same error message.

And in fact, I also discovered that this happened after a very recent
update, since both of these machines passed chkdsk without a hitch a
few weeks ago (I may have been slower in getting updates than you,
since you appear to have started receiving the errors as early as 2
months ago).

I guess I'll just ignore these messages. Thanks again for your
feedback. It was very helpful and reassuring!

Hello,

squarenesswa...@xxxxxxxxx I noticed the same problem on almost every
Windows XP SP2 about 2 months ago. I tried every solution posted on M$

website Knowledge Base with no luck.

First of all I find this problem to exist on EVERY Windows XP SP2 in my
company network (21 machines all up-2-date), and at the same time none
of Windows 2000 SP4 nor Windows 2003 SP2 server shows anything like it.
It happens only in Windows XP file system.

At home I have this problem on both Win XP SP2 machines (desktop &
laptop). I even tried switching primary harddrive in my desktop and
re-installing the whole system (inlcuding all system updates of
course). Guess what... same **** pops up every time I perform chkdsk...
very annoying... so far didn't find any solution.

Definetely it IS NOT A HARD DRIVE FAILURE!! what are the chances of 23
different hard drives to fail at the same time??? Moreover notice no
problems on Win 2000 and Win 2003 servers.
For me it seems to be a stupid bug in Win XP SP2 that started to happen
after some system update - do not know which one is causing it as I keep
all my computers up-2-date at work and at home... Anyways there was
similiar discussion on annoyances.org but it ended up with no solution,
besides a few crazy ideas that in the end didn't change anything.

If anyone is experiencing similar problems please post here.
I guess we all need to wait for a "critical update" from M$ that will
do the trick. So far I re-scan with "/f" option my system once a week
and do not worry much about it, because besides that everything works
perfectly. just the weird feelings stays that something is still not
right...
