Re: error code 0x80090019, cant restore or start in safe mode

Hi,

Now that you have reached Safe Mode, try using Windows System Restore to restore the a point just before the problem started.

Sorry for posting out of order.
I finially got it to the screen where you can select safe mode but i cant choose one because my arrow keys don't work on that screen. They do work if I go into setup by pressing delete. Should I purchase a standard keyboard and try that?

In your original post, you did not include the most important information in the error message: "a problem is preventing windows from accurately checking the license for this computer." See if this article helps: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=310794

You can also try the google archives: http://groups.google.com/groups/search?q=%22a+problem+is+preventing+windows+from+accurately+%22&qt_s=Search+Groups

A PS2 port is round while a USB port is rectangular. The PS2 ports are generally color coded on the back of the PC (purple for keyboard, green for mouse). You might want to borrow a PS2 keyboard and see if that can get you into safe mode should you need to do so.

I included the key because the code as I under stand it, is part of windows
genuine advantage authentication software and I know mine is authentic.
the error code says " a problem is preventing windows from accurately
checking the license for this computer, Error Code: 80090019"

If I press F8 during start-up, no matter if I hold it down of tap it, it is
if I am not even doing it. The system will load up to the password screen or
to the restore screen if I have the CD in.
My keyboard is a wireless and has a cord with a usb and a keyboard plug
together, they are both plugged in and will work except when I get to the
restore screen.

What is a ps2 port?
the e-machines came with software in it. I have restore cd's that came with
it. They don't come with a normal silver holographic cd from Microsoft.

More info please. You included part of your product key--why? Is there
more to the error notice than the number you provided? Why can't you boot
into safe mode--what happens when you try? Does your keyboard have a USB
connection? If so, do you have an adapter that allows it to be plugged into
a PS2 port?

I have genuine xp software product key *****-*****-*****-***8X-TY2KT on an
e-machines W2686.
Every thing was working normally when I shut it down, when I tried to
start
it up, it will go all the way to where I enter the password and then I get
error code 0x80090019.
I can't put it in safe mode with F8, I can't access the start menu or the
registry, or the internet with it. I can press delete and enter setup but
what should I do from there?
I can't even restore it with the manufacturer CD, if I put the restore CD
in and let it run, once it gets to the "system restore/ windows XP" screen
the key board input does not function.
It will time out and select 2 for boot to command prompt from CD-ROM.
then it will read A:\>
but I can't type.
I can type if I take out the CD and let it boot up to the password screen
but I have already I get error code 0x80090019.
