The USB 2 Controller is set to Enable and to the Controller Mode is set to
Full Speed. There is also a Legacy USB Support that is set to Auto.

The motherboard installation disk refers you to Windows XP Service Pack 1
for the USB drivers.

The first thing to do is to check your motherboard's BIOS to determine that
the USB settings are correct. Ensure that the USB 2.0 controller has been
enabled. That is the default but it's always possible something or someone
has changed it.

Some ASUS boards also have a BIOS item referring to a USB 2.0 mode. If yours
does, check that it's set to the Hi Speed option for full USB 2.0
capability.

Then there's the possibility that ASUS has provided (on its motherboard's
installation CD) a USB 2.0 driver that needs to be installed. In theory the
XP OS containing SP2 contains the necessary controller drivers for USB 2.0
capability, but with certain ASUS motherboards (and again, I'm not sure the
A8V Deluxe was one of them) it *was* necessary to install the ASUS USB
driver to obtain this capability. So check your User Guide and the
motherboard's installation CD to see if there's any reference to the
preceding.
