file from the command prompt and if so can someone give me the proper
commands? or do i have to un and then reinstall SP2....
In Explorer, Tools => Folder Options => View, check to show hidden
files and folders.
Go to the hidden folder C:\Windows\System32\dllcache
Check that the file wscui.cpl exists in this folder.
If it does - and only if it does - go to the System32 folder and
delete the file there. It will be replaced immediately with a copy of
the one in the dllcache folder.
If this doesn't fix the problem, you can extract the file from your
Windows XP CD as follows:
Extract from CD
Insert your Windows installation CD and stop any autostart.
Go to Start => Run and type in the following:
For a single file:
expand -r E:\i386\wscui.cp_ C:\Windows\System32\
Where E: is the drive letter for your CD-ROM. There is space before
and after -r and a space before C:
Not the underscore after .dl - don't type in .cpl
.
