Seems like it would recover using system restore if it were the updates.

I had the same thing happen to me and I think it was cuz I got all the
microsoft updates...I only got a few on my fresh install and it works
fine,
but anything after SP2 just screws with my system for some reason. I have
a
legal copy so thats not the problem. Dunno if this helps any but maybe
someone can tell us why it does that?

Last night I tried to boot up and kept being taken to the screen that
says
Windows had a shut down problem, then it has a list of options to
choose
from, normal boot, safe mode, etc. I have tried all the options and
all my
computer ever does is a constant reboot. I finally was able to "break
in"
and do a system restore. After the restore, the computer did the same
thing.
Does anyone have any ideas? I run E-trust software for viruses,
firewall
and spyware.
