ok,
i had anticipated a 50/50 response
that the issue had occurred on
a clean system, but had some
hope that it did not.
however it is unclear if after you
replaced the motherboard, the o.s.
was reinstalled to it's virgin state on
a spanking clean harddisk
or simply a preloaded
harddisk was added.
i think this is a key factor to the
issue because:
1) if you had a new motherboard installed and
2) the ram was tested/diagnosed/benchmarked to be free from generating faults and
3) the o.s. was installed a formatted & clean harddisk then
it would seem that you should not be getting any errors.
HOWEVER, obviously there is an intermittent problem
that still exists.
if i'm not mistaken when a
program hangs, it is unable
to proceed with initiating additional
codes. Like you ask,
"What is stalling/hanging
the codes/processes?"
The possibilities are: memory, disks,
cpu or software? Either one of these
or a combination of them is what
we have to analyze.

to begin the process of elimination,
we must ensure that you can validate
any presumptions that are brought fourth
for review.
did you test your memory? if so
what method was utilized to
confirm that these pieces of hardware
were functional and fault free?
have you booted into safemode and
safemode w/networking to see
if the same issue arise in these
environments? however, based on
what has been mentioned, the
errors will likely show up in these
safe mode environments.
But you should confirm this anyway
so that we can begin the process of elimination.

Thanks for your reply. I would consider the redo you suggest were it not for
the fact that after installing a new motherboard and video card I did
originally have an XP-only operating system -- with the same hanging problem.
I discovered that Microsoft would no longer "support" my hanging issue
without paying (already used the two calls I guess...), so it was at that
time I decided I'd add the other operating system -- that way if I needed
internet connectivity I'd have it.
So, since XP was hanging on its own in my initial (prior motherboard)
configuration, hanging on its own with my 2nd configuration, and after adding
a new OS, I can't help but think it would be more of a PIA than it would be
worth to start from scratch... (I know this sounds lazy, but my initial
configuration led me to approximately 6 complete reinstalls of XP with all
SPs and updates -- I just don't have it in me...)
I can certainly see the argument that I've got too many variables to make
diagnosing possible... I agree. However, I would really like to know what
these fault bucket numbers mean. It would make sense that if Windows is
going to generate a fault code that there should be a way to find out what
that code means. I just wish Microsoft would make it possible for the common
folk to perform searches on the Knowledge Base that actually make hits...
