windows defender I already have, I know where to find spybot this has
already been advised to me but where do I find the other two? and the virus
software

McAfee is a company, not a product. Which McAfee products(s) do you run? If
it's just their anti-virus, it doesn't protect you against spyware/adware.

Also note, that next to Norton Anti-Virus, McAfee Anti-Virus is probably the
worst product on the market. I recommend replacing it with a better product,
such as Avast or AVG (both freeware).

You need separate software to protect you from spyware/adware, and one such
product is not good enough. Note what Eric Howes, who has done extensive
testing on Anti-Spyware products, states:

"No single anti-spyware scanner removes everything. Even the best-performing
anti-spyware scanner in these tests missed fully one quarter of the
"critical" files and Registry entries" See

I personally run the following anti-spyware programs (all are free):


Spyware Blaster
Adaware
Spybot Search and Destroy
Windows Defender.
