Re: monitor shuts down

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Did you mean that, without user intervention, the monitor
powers down or merely goes black? ( Goes black to standby) Does
this occur immediately (which means you never get to see anything at no
time)? (No after it runs for a while, it may not happen in the same day,
sometimes it happens a day later. For the games it happens after I'm
playing the game for about an 1/2 hour). (I never tried to use the
monitor button when this happens, I would just reboot the computer)

I installed the free Everest program and the only thing I can find is this
(Problem At least 85 Hz vertical refresh rate is recommended for classic
(CRT) displays). I h ave a LCD 17 inch monitor not a CRT. I also have a
Thermaltake 430 watt power supply which I just bought a few months ago. I
have a ATI RADEON X600/X550 Series x86/SSE2 graphics card with the latest
update.

Monitor shuts down. Okay, but we don't know if maybe you're hitting the
power button to do that. There really is not a question anywhere in your
post. Did you mean that, without user intervention, the monitor powers
down or merely goes black? Does this occur immediately (which means you
never get to see anything at no time)? If so, is it plugged in? How
could you be seeing anything from Everest unless the monitor was working
for awhile? If it is working for awhile, how long is that while? How
LONG before the monitor goes black or powers down (and which does it do)?
Is this after a long period of idleness so maybe your screen saver is
activating, or perhaps due to the settings in Power Options? After the
monitor "shuts down", what happens if you cycle the power button on the
monitor?
