Re: Hard Drive is making horrible noises, please help with Logging errors.

Run the Windows checkdisc application to correct any errors in the disc.
http://www.updatexp.com/windows-xp-chkdsk.html
And enable the following services which are related to error and
notification reports but you should probably enable all those you disabled
since services usually depend on eachother.

The problem you're experiencing with the HD is an indication that it may be
close to failure. Install a system information application like EVEREST,
ASTRA32, PC Wizzard 2007, Fresh Diagnose.
EVEREST and ASTRA provide information on the harddrive condition
with a warning sign in:
EVEREST\Storage\Smart
ASTRA\Harddrives and Diagnostics

The following services should enable error and event reports:
System Event Notification Service (automatic)
Error Reporting service (automatic)
Event Log Service (automatic)
Alerter Service (manual)
Logical Disk Manager Service (automatic)
Logical Disk Manager Administrative Service (manual)
Performance Logs and Alerts Service (Manual)
COM+ Event System Service (manual)

My Hard Drive is making some bad noises and I need to be able to
review or log the errors. I disabled a lot of services and I need to
know which services should be turned back on in order to Log/View the
Disk Errors.

I've already consulted with the Services Websites like eldergeek and
blackviper and cannot find an explanation as to which services must be
on in order to do this.

Give me a hint or perhaps a web site that I am not aware of, thank
you.

I realize it was dumb to disabled so many services But I normally
didn't need to know all of these since previous Hard drives were not
having the problems this one is having.

This is the list of services I have disabled currently on my computer.
It's a Win Xp Home Service Pack [2].

DISABLED SERVICES
Alerter
Automatic updates
Clipbook
Computer browser
Distributed Transaction Coordinator
DNS Client
Error reporting service
Event log
Fast user switching
Human interface device access
Indexing service
Messenger
MS Software shadow copy provider
Net login
NetMeeting Remote Desktop Sharing
Network DDE
Network DDE DSDM
Network Location Awareness (NLA)
Network Provisioning Service
NT LM Security Support Provider
Portable Media Serial Number Service

Smart Card
System restore service
Telephony

If you can help or point me to some help I'd appreciate it.
Note:I've already consulted eldergeek and blackviper as well as about
20 other services guides. thanks
