Once you delete a profile it cannot be "recreated" as such. You can create another user with the same user name and password but it will not use your old profile settings. Nonetheless, after you create the new account you should be able to logon with the name and assigned password, double check that you are using the proper name and password to logon. You will have to copy your files from your old profile to the new one: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811151

My personal profile got deleted in XP Pro. (I bought laptop this used and there seems to be no system restore. Jerk didn't know how to format the drive for that when he reloaded Windows before sending it to me.)
I managed to log back on through the administrator account and create it again.
The profile does not show up in the logon box at boot. When I try to use the profile name it says I can't use it.
All the programs, documents, etc. are still in that folder but I just can't logon to it. It's a pain going through c\document&settings\profilename to get to my stuff.
I want to be able to logon to that profile so I can use the files and settings transfer wizard to copy my stuff to an external hard drive. Then I will reformat and load XP correctly with system restore. That I know how to do.
But how do I get the profile attached back to my files and settings?
Any help would be great, and thanks in advance.
