Hello,
No need, if it doesn't exist it means it is disabled

Hello,
Might still want to try running those malware scans that I mentioned.
Also try http://www.theeldergeek.com/desktop_tab_missing_from_display.htm
and http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922370/
If it doesn't work out, instead of spending so much time on this, why
don't you do a fresh clean installation? :)

Professor Joe formulated on Monday :
another machine just donated:
I always run the chkdsk /f /r and sfc/scannow on them first. Then give
them a work over
This one has no desktop tab in Properties. I tried the tip at kelly's
korner regarding it, rebooted, no change.

Professor Joe
=======
perused MS document, it stated any "Wallpaper" entry to delete. That was
done.
The young owner of this machine stated in an effort to help "work on it"
had done chkdsk, scannow, and 4 antivir-spy-trojan scans, as well as
desk.cpl (for desktop tab)
in between this forum.
Still no desktop tab.
Professor Joe
back again....
gpedit.msc - did that to this xphome machine (from xppro files), reboot,
and has main titles,frames, no information within to change or look at.
??
======================================================================
From MS bulletin:
This problem occurs if the following two conditions are true: . The Turn
on Classic shell Group Policy setting is configured.
. The value of the ClassicShell entry in the following registry subkey is
not 0:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
******Important part here: no entry for Classic Shell under Explorer....
should I add it? dword? __________________
