You didn't include information about what make and model
laptop
you're using, but if it's a Thinkpad, you might want to look
at
this article.

Fingerprint Reader protected logon causes vrlogon.dll error
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-58845

If that doesn't fix the problem, you might want to contact
the
manufacturer to see if they can supply a solution.

Good luck

no its a

Toshiba Qosmio G35-AV600 Notebook
(1.83gHz Core Duo, 1GB DDR2, 160GB, DVD±RW DL, Window XP
Media Center
Edition, 17" TFT - MPN: G35AV600)

and to the first reply,i tried that link, but i couldnot
understand
what i was susposed to do ,so i didnt follow though with it,i
didnt
want to ruin stuff.

if anyone can assist me on what and how to edit that dll,
please do.

i searched gina and found this notepad in
windows/I386/compdata

An application has replaced the Windows logon software on
your
computer, such as a biometric logon or smart card logon
application.
This program might no longer function after you upgrade,
which might
prevent you from logging on to your computer. After you
upgrade,
even if the program functions, some operating system features
might
not be available. It is recommended that you uninstall this
software
before continuing with the upgrade.

and found another msgina.dll in the windows/$ntuninstall
folder,that
was modified the same time the one in win32,means thats the
one right?

Following up on my earlier response.

Checking the Toshiba web site, the manual for your laptop
indicates that it has a fingerprint reader. Either consult the
manual or contact Toshiba support for help with this issue.

im not quite sure how,but i fixed it,i uninstalled the fingerprint thing and

fingerprint thing and seen a feature to turn on/off the boot up security and
clicked it and it said that i must go under account setting to enable this
feature and it must of fixed itself, because now everythings back to normal.
