hi, how do I connect....I do not connect using VPN. its a home machine,
mostly used by me, sometimes by my daughter. We're using it for research
needed, work and school.
after I start it up, I go to START, choose
CONNECT TO MSN EXPLORER option, window pops up and I type my password in
there.(( sometimes I am not able to type because it freezes)).
But before I try to connect to the internet I am getting that BACKUP.NOTIFY
window/message and even I tried everything you guys told me - it is still
there driving me crazy.
I am using NORTON ANTI VIRUS and have done all the needed updates.
AFTER I click CANCEL to get rid of this message, another window pops up
saying:
REGISTERED JIT DEBUGGER IS NOT AVAILABLE. AN ATTEMPT TO LAUNCH A JIT
DEBUGGER WITH THE FOLLOWING COMMNAD RESULTED IN AN ERROR OF 0X2 (2)
PLEASE CHCECK COMPUTER SETTINGS
cordbg.exe ! a 0X500
Id reall appreciate any help.
Thanks

Hi Maggie,
Please tell us how do you connect to the Internet and are you using VPN
(Virtual Private Network) on this machine and how this machine operate, is it
in in a work group environment or is it a home machine?.
What anti-virus you are using?, the Update error message it could refer to
the server of the Anti-virus wanted to update and causing this error.
Try this if you don't connect through a proxy or VPN:
1... Click start >> Control Panel >> Double Click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options, on the IE Properties window
you will see these Options:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs
| Advanced .
Click on Connection Tab and then click on LAN Settings Button, there make
sure the Automatically Detect settings is not checked.
If you are using IPSEC or VPN try to make sure this Service started
Automatically:
Open a Run Command and type in:
services.msc click [OK]
Make sure the IPSEC service is starting Manual instead of Automatically or
Vice Versa if it is manual turn into Automatically.

Thanks! Here it goes, after logging in as an administrator ( safe mode) I
wans unable to uncheck to the backupnotify entry, because I couldnt find it
under the STARTUP tab.
I ran eventvwr.msc , though and it showed errors in all three :
application, security and system. Here is what I found
APPLICATION:
source :automatic live update
source: Application Hang
no info abou it
SECURITY:
IPSec Services failed to set the complete list of network interfaces on the
machine.
This can be potential security hazard to the machine since some of the
network interfaces may not get protection as desired by IPSec filters.
Another Source Servive Control Manager, DCOM
The following boot start or system start drivers failed to load:
AFD
Amdk7
Fips
IPSec
MRxSmb
Net Bios
Net BT
RasAcd
RDbss
SAVRTPEL
SPBBCDW
Tcpip
WSZIFSL
Computer is not freezing ( so far) but I still didnt solve the issue
regarding this backupnotify message.
oh, and I went to the link given before, ran clean boot, but then the
message popped out, that I need to switch my settings to normal startup again.
I scanned. Didnt detect any wiruses.
thanks again for taking your time to respond.

Hi maggie,
Please try this and reply in this post, there is no need to start a new one.
On start Up try to Tap F8 until you get the Boot up options window/Menu
select safe Mode and log in.
There try to have a look in the event viewer, to access the event viewer try
this:
Open a run command and type in:
eventvwr.msc click [OK]
On the Event viewer Click on al this three one-by-one and look on the right
Pane/window for any error messages(X):
Application
System
Security
To get more info about the causer double click the error Number to get more
info and you can copy and paste in your next post HERE and the exact wording
please.
Also try the clean Boot by following the instructions on the link given
previously.
Also try scan for viruses and malwares in safe mode if you have a protection
software run a scan.
HTH.

ok, so I tried to do it and wasnt succesful. Each time my computer would
freeze and my action didnt really solve the problem.
I gave up for a little while and after starting up I would just cancel the
pop up window. But now 7 times out of 10 my computer would freeze after
starting it up. I have no choice but turn it off manually. It happened just
after my trying to solve the problem with the pop up window. do I have to
restore system? I really wouldnt want to. There is no cure, I tried to scan
it for wiruses, didnt help.still asking if there is another way to solve it.
( oh - and no, I didnt use HP Digital Imaging before)

I posted that question few days ago, but havent gotten any response, cvan
anyone help me?
After I start my computer, the window pops up, it says:
BACKUPNOTIFY.EXE - COMMON LANGUAGE cEBUGGING SERVICE
APPLICATION HAS GENERATED AN EXEPTION THAT COULD NOT BE HADLED
PROCESS ID =0X46c (1132)
THREAD ID = 0x760 (1968)
I tried to go to System Configuration Utility and Startup and then uncheck
the box next to
'backupnotify', but it didnt help at all.
What else can I do to eliminate this window?
At the Welcome screen, log onto the default "Administrator" account, by
pressing ctrl-alt-delete Twice, and in the logon dialog that pops up, type in
'Administrator', and leave the password blank. Then run the configuration
utility to uncheck the backupnotify entry.

Hi Maggie,
Try this:
While the system is booting up Press CTRL + ALT + Delete on your keyboard
all in the same time, it is all about timing nothing else.
Then when you get the login Dialogue Box Select the Administrator and start
in safe mode, have a look into the event Viewer and see or look for any error
messages(X) that can shed some lights on the causer, which I thing may
something belong to HP Digital Imaging, do you have this software?.
Try to start with Clean boot by unchecking the unnecessary programs from
starting up.

Also make sure you clean up the Temp and run a scan on your computer.
