Re: User Account Administrator?

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Windows XP has a built-in Administrator account. You can only access this
account by means of Safe Mode for Windows XP Home. The default password for
the built-in Administrator Account is blank (no password) unless someone has
changed the password. If you can gain access I would create a new user
account that has administrative privileges and test if the new user is
having access denied messages.

No, I do not have Zone Alarm installed. I have Ad Aware and have had it
installed for over three years, so I know that is not causing the issue.
I learned WinXP Pro has Logon Users and Groups options in Computor
Management, however, I am running the Home edition, therefore am unable to
log on in safe mode and assign me or any other user as administrator..
I'm in a heap of a mess here...

Do you have Zone Alarm installed or any other Security Software

These programs /may/ be preventing you from making System wide change. If
you do have these products installed then disconnect from the Internet
and
close/exit the program. Now try to make the changes to your needs.

Remember to start your security software before connecting to the
Internet.

I have full admin. privileges to switch programs ie: Making one e-mail
client
the default over anohter, up until recently.
Now, all of a sudden, when I try to switch outlook, to Incredimail,
etc..as
well as use the msconfig to remove certian things from start up...I
keep
getting these Aministrator error messages such as:
"An access Denied Error was returned while attempting to change a
service.
You may need to log on using an Administrator account to make the
specified
changes."

AND another one saying: "You need to have Administrator or Power User
Privileges in Order to set Incredimail as yopur default e-mail client.
For
assistance, contact your system administrator."

It shows in my User Accounts that I am set as Administrator Account.
Can someone help me have those privileges again, so I am able to set
changes
I was able to do previously??
Thank you..
Apeke
