With "Automatically restart" (Properties | Advanced | Settings | StartupIf you have done "Full" scans with updated anti virus and adaware, it could
and Recovery) disabled, a "blue screen" stop notice provides the following
information:
Technical Information:
*** STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x804F2F51, 0xF1FA07A8, 0x00000000)
Each time the computer is shut down or rebooted, the message is always the
same except for the segment "FA0". Among the other symbols that occur in
that position are "C11" and "AD9"... and so on. The rest of the message
is unchanged. Upon reboot (via front PC button) the process is very
prolonged and ultimately I am informed that the computer has recovered
from a serious error. After this, the PC appears to function normally ---
until it is again off/on recycled.
The recovery files that are created at each instance of closing down or
rebooting are producing serious bloat on my C drive.
When this problem first occurred, MS suggested (Article ID: 311806) that a
possible problem might be with Roxio ECDC 5.0 (I have 8.0). I deleted this
program, but with no effect. I then deleted a large number of Temp and
other junk files. I thought I had found the problem!!! The PC would turn
off/reboot with no indicated problem --- for approximately 5 or 6 cycles,
but then the "problem" returned!
Is there any way to identify the "culprit" without wandering through
endless "possible" solutions?
I brought up this problem earlier under the subject: "Turn Off reverts to
Restart".
Any guidance would be appreciated.

be a registry conflict. I have found at times with some error messages it
points to low ram or faulty. Try swapping the ram over after carefully
dusting,don't touch the connectors.
Also it would benefit you if you loaded ccleaner, freeware and it will clear
all the rubbish out of system and there is a reg cleaner attached which will
do minor corrections. Give it ago.
