The OEM version that came with your computer might be checking to see if all
of the hardware is the same as when 1st purchased...it just might be
stopping if your new HD does not match the original configuration.
just a thought

I have just installed and new internal drive (C:\) to replace my dodgy
excisting drive. I have partitioned and formated the new drive to NTFS
format changed the jumper to Master but I cannot load my windows operating
system and I do not know why. I have downloaded SP2 (version 5.1) on my
original disk but I want to load the original version on my new disk and
upgrade lated (This may may be an OEM product as I bought it with the
computer). As I suspect that there is a corruption problem with both
Windows
xp and Microsfot Office xp I do not wish to copy one disk to the other as
I
will be copying the faults as well.
My computer recognises the CD and states 'Set up is inspecting the
computer
hardware configuration' then displays 'Window Setup' then just hangs.
Any ideas? I see a few similar cases already listed but they are not wuite
the same as mine.
