I'm sorry Wes, but not still haven't been able to fix the problem. I need
information in simple terms, & only that relates to WinXP home. The
solutions on the MS web pages are confusing for me, I appologize.
Thanks,

Folders Security tab.
Permissions can only be set on NTFS formatted drives. If the hard drive is
formatted FAT32 you will never see the Security tab.
With Windows XP Home Edition.
[[Start in safe mode, and then log in as Administrator or as Administrative
User. The Security tab is available for files or folders on NTFS volumes.]]
from...
How to set, view, change, or remove file and folder permissions in Windows
XP
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308418
With Windows XP Pro, you have to disable Use simple file sharing in order to
see the Security tab.
To display the Security tab...
Open Folder Options in Control Panel.
Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click Folder Options
On the View tab, under Advanced settings, clear: Use simple file sharing
[Recommended].

Hi Bob,
Windows Internet Explorer 7 does not have a Delete all offline content
option. I use Internet Explorer 6 and will not downlaod IE7, for many
reasons.
It looks like a permissions problem on the %SystemRoot%\Installer folder.
Ignore the titles, see the CAUSEs & RESOLUTIONs.

Notes:
%systemroot% is an environment variable that is the location of the
Windows root folder.
Typing or pasting %systemroot% into the Start | Run box opens to the
Windows folder on whatever drive it is located. I.e. C:\WINDOWS or
C:\WINNT.
Windows XP can be installed in either WINDOWS or WINNT.
%SystemRoot%\Installer can be either
C:\WINDOWS\Installer
or
C:\WINNT\Installer
or some other drive letter.

Thanks Wes, but it didn't help. Something different on her system is
their is no reference to delete offline content after clicking on the
delete files button. Why it's different from yours and mine is
puzzling. I wanted to install windows cleanup utility and got the same
result as the adobe install. (internal error 2755. 1632 C:\Program

reader, & installed no problem. Anything else we might try?

Clean out the Temporary Internet Files and download Acrobat Reader
again and try to install it again. Something may be corrupt with the
current copy of the install files.
Download the latest version of Adobe Reader
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
To delete *all* of your Temporary Internet Files...
1) Start | Run | Type: inetcpl.cpl | Click OK
Or right click the Internet Explorer icon on your Desktop
Or Start | Settings | Control Panel | Internet Options
Best to do this with all instances of Internet Explorer closed.
Especially if there are a large number of files. Also close OE.
2) On the General Tab, in the middle of the screen, click on Delete
Files 3) Check the box: Delete all offline content {This cleans >>
%userprofile%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
AND
%userprofile%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5
and \Content.MSO (Created by an MS Office program)}
4) Click on OK and wait for the hourglass icon to stop after it deletes
the temporary internet files
5) You can now click on Delete Cookies and click OK to delete cookies
that websites have placed on your hard drive.
6) You can also click on the Clear History button to empty your History
folder.
Note: If you do NOT select the Delete all offline content box, not
everything will be cleaned out.
Content.IE5 is a hidden system folder.
IE 7 does not have a Delete all offline content option.
Or forget that POS Adobe Reader completely and get Foxit Reader. I
dumped Adobe a long tome ago.
Foxit Reader for Windows
<quote>
Foxit Reader is the only eligible alternative reader/viewer for PDF
files (eBooks). It's smaller, faster, and cleaner. And it's free.
You don't need to go through lengthy installation process to start
using Foxit Reader, just UNZIP the downloaded "foxitreader.zip"
package into any place you want, then run FoxitReader.exe.
You can set Foxit Reader as your default PDF reader, so you can double
click on PDF files to open them within Foxit Reader.
If you want to uninstall Foxit Reader, please remove all Foxit Reader
files. If you want to switch default PDF reader back to your previous
reader, please run the other reader (e.g. Adobe Reader) you have, and
set it as the default reader.
