I have been having very annoying problems with my computer lately, most of them involving games that take up the whole screen, and need a few sec. to minimize ad maximize them (in this case, Counter-strike 1.6 and GunboundNA).
First, my game is minimized (button for it at bottom of screen, near taskbar). I click it (to maximize it so I can play it), it tries to go in-game, so that it takes up the screen, but then it goes back into minimized mode - in this case my desktop (I usually don't multi-task when playing games...).
Run DXDiag and see if it complains of uncertified drivers; try lowering graphics hardware acceleration, etc.. Also look at the computer manufacturer site and the graphics card manufacturer site for different drivers. Try upgrades, reference drivers, and drivers for other model cards till you find one that works.
Second, on top of the last issue, my mouse pointer will sometimes become invisible (can't see where my white mouse pointer is!)on my screen, so that I have to restart my whole computer just to see it again!! But this one occurs rarely, and my parents who simply tried to use the internet had this problem as well.
Same thing; Try lowering graphics hardware acceleration slide. You can lower graphics hardware acceleration in Display Properties, Settings tab, Advanced button, Troubleshooting tab. If this helps, you probably need a different graphics card or drivers.
Last, but not least, while on the internet trying to open up a page, it just freezes on me! I have to wait about 10sec and ctrl+alt+delete it to get the new page loading (weird problem, but yes)! this also happens to my parents.
I've only had my computer for maybe 3 or 2 years at the most, and I really don't want to call Geek Squad, as they charge too much :(
Please help, it will appreciated at the highest level x.x I just don't want these problems anymore...
Try pressing F5 to force the page to reload. Have you checked for malware? Are your a/v definitions up-to-date?
Also - yet another small issue - it has to do with entry chat boxes like the one I'm using now. If I put my mouse cursor over it, it blinks continuously, switching from saying "Enter your message" with the type symbol pointer, to my regular, white mouse pointer. It also makes it so that I can only click inside this chat box when it is in the type symbol pointer... also occurs randomly
sorry to say, but, THESE PROBLEMS R KILLING ME T.T (for the past 3 weeks)
This might be a java or jscript problem; I'm not sure. Maybe a security or other browser setting for jscript or Java (two different animals).
