get error msg no op sys found apon rebooting with 98 cd.Please can
someone help!-

Mike,

Go to http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm and download the boot disk
for
Windows 98 SE. Change your BIOS setting to floppy disk as first
boot, boot
from floppy and when the DOS screen has finished loading At the A/
promt,
type fdisk and follow the prompts to remove the partition (if the
partition
is NTFS then choose to 'Delete Non-DOS Partition' [without the
quotes]).

You will then have to reboot the computer with the bootdisk still in
the
drive, partition and format the hard drive and then install Windows
98.

Hope this is of some help

Brian G-
Brian,
I have tried this. I have a usb floppy and for some reason it will
not boot from the floppy with a win 98 se disk. I can however use a
dos floppy disk and it will boot from that. Thanks for your msg
Mike-

Mike,

I missed the USB bit of your post - I'll have to get my specs
changed, or a
monitor bigger than the 19 inch one that I'm using :-)

It's possible that your motherboard does not support USB drives
without the
operating system loading first - hence the reason why it won't load
the

floppy disk.

I see from your post that you have booted from DOS, how did you get
on with
the FDISK and install?

Brian GBrian,-
Now my ignorance shows. I don't know the proper wording to do
format or f-disk in dos ive tried several ways but get improper
command for an answer.I must need special help-

Mike,

For FDISK it should look like this - A:\fdisk (the letters are not
case
sensitive).

For FORMAT it will be - A:\format C: (there is a space between format
and
C:)

Brian G
Brian,
I appreciate your help! When i get to dos prompt it has a >
symble in it i can't delete so when i type fdisk it says improper
command. How do i get rid of this symble if this is the reason?
Thanks greatly Mike
