Hi edna,
Just to be sure not something else, try to check the Time on your computer
and it is been set to right, then download this ShellExView and see the
running application in the background:
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/slowrightclick.htm
If you have been connected to the net scan for malwares and Viruses.
HTH.

Hi Edna,
I will do this:
Rename all found files/folder to say:
Kl1old.sys and safe it, then Reboot and see if the error message will go and
none of the applications will shout ouch and complain from missing
file/folder.
Also try to look in the Start Up and uncheck the starting line for it.
To do that msconfig click [OK] and click Start Up Tab.
P.S what version of ZA you have and is it the free one?.
HTH.
Let us know.

Hi Nass, Thx but ... I've NEVER had such installed and too, I just
formatted my HD so it HAS to be something else besides having installed
Kersersky Anti-Virus
OK Let's think. Is some of this Kersersky?? Software in WXP perhaps
licensed by MS to use in WXP? Likely - don't u agree it's possible? At
least now I know the name and cause of the file being here or rather, not
being here. LOL
OK then, what do I do about it? I'd like to get the little critter and
plunk it in the folders u say it's supposed to be located so I won't see
these errors.
Do YOU have the file and if so, have u ever installed Kersperky Anti Virus?
Strange I should get these messages as my friend doesn't and too she can't
find the file on her system.
I have no idea what to do now other than try to ignore the Error messages.
Is there a way to stop the Registry from trying to run it at boot - without
messing something up. ...

Description:
The kl1 service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
My Note: This is a K , a small L and a One
This error was seen prior to installing any Programs and Printer so there's
a good chance it's a Windows file.
I thought this might be Keyboard related just because it starts with a "K"
but my Keyboard Saitek Eclipse 11 didn't come with an accompanying CD as WXP
files they say are sufficient.
Seems like this is a Sevice but I can't relate it to any of the Services
listed.
I just found it mentioned ...
in System Info under Software Environment\System Drivers.
C\Windows\System32\Drivers\Kl1.sys Kernel Driver, Started: No, Start Mode:
Boot.
Does anyone know what software this Kl1.sys file is from or how can I
find out?
If this is a System file, does that mean it's a Windows file and therefore,
it will be on the WXP CD? I have no idea how to retrieve it - can I get it on
the Net?
Any suggestions will be most appreciated. Thx ...
Hi Edna,
This a Service for Kerspersky Anti-Hacker Software, did you have or you
still have Kaspersky Anti-Virus Suite installed?.
It does Exist in these paths:
C:\Program Files\
C:\Windows\System32\drivers
C:\Windows\System32\
Also in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\kavsvc\
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet01\Services\kavsvc\
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet02\Services\kavsvc\
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\kavsvc\Enum
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet03\Services\kavsvc\
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet03\Services\kavsvc\Enum
So if you did uninstall the Software, you may have a leftover traces and
still active or thought by the system still install as it can read it's path
or file.
HTH.
Let us know.
