If I plug the AC adapter into the hub and into the wall outlet (i.e.
the way it is supposed to work), the device manager shows it as being
bus-powered and any device I try to attach via the hub that requires
more than 100 mA causes a power exceeded error.
If I unhook the power cord from the hub, I get the same results.
However, here is the weirdness. If I leave the power cord plugged into
the hub, but unplug it from the wall outlet, suddenly windows changes
the hub to a self-powered hub and all my devices that require more
than 100 mA suddenly start working.
What gives? And should I worry about screwing up my computer if I run
it this way?
