Re: Unwanted file opens on startup

Nepatsfan (sorry about your loss last week. I was pulling for your team).
This seems to have fixed the problem (the final option). You said that "If
the folder doesn't open, that entry either has to be
repaired by adding quotes or deleted entirely." Does this mean that I need
to do more than I have done. The file did not open when I rebooted my
computer, but is something else going to be affected that I'm not aware of
yet?
Sorry about the double posting. I'm new to this and I wasn't completely
sure my original question got asked. Thanks, Dennis

The folder opening indicates a problem with one of your startup
items. Odds are anything that Dell installed as a startup item
can be removed. Check your Start -> All Programs -> Startup
folder first.

Take a look at this article and see if it applies to your

Dell folder opens when logging on to Windows?

If that doesn't fix the problem, do the following.

Download Autoruns from Microsoft.

AutoRuns for Windows v8.61
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/ProcessesAndThreads/Autoruns.mspx

Once you've extracted the files run autoruns.exe.
In Autoruns, click on the Options menu at the top of the
window.
Click on "Hide Microsoft Entries".
Hit the F5 key on your keyboard to refresh the listing.
Click on the Logon tab.
Double click on the bar next to Image Path.
Check for any entries that start C:\Program Files\Dell.
Uncheck it and reboot your computer.
If the folder doesn't open, that entry either has to be
repaired by adding quotes or deleted entirely.

If your problem still isn't solved rerun Autoruns.
Hide the Microsoft entries and hit F5.
Go to the File menu and select Save as.
Save the output file to a handy location.
Open the file and copy the contents.
Paste the contents into a reply to this message.

FYI, you might want to take a look at this article.
