HI!
I'm having problems with my D drive and I don't know why I should be. I
just had a new ROM drive put in just about a year ago, and I also had a new
hard drive put in 4 months ago. I can play music CDs and even rip them. I
guess I haven't tried to burn any CDs since this problem has come up. But I
also cannot save any pictures to CDs so I can get them off of my computer. I
thought maybe I had a bad CD, so I bought new ones that has more than enough
memory on them to save pictures to. Every time I try to save a picture to my
D drive, it says---Unexpected Error Code: Attempting to change to directory
D:\ gave unexpected error code 1.
WHY?!?!?! This is driving my nuts!!! I don't have any virus problems. Any
help will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
I have been reading this thread and I am afraid that my head will come off if I
shake it more.
You cannot just save to a CD. You can use Nero or some other program to burn a
bunch of files and you can mix photo, text and program files and even put them
in folders so they are nice and tidy - you can then burn the CD and even have a
chance for later on to add more files to that CD - but is is not anything like
saving to a CD as you are trying to do. To do that you need to format the CD.
Roxio and Nero have programs that will format a CD allowing you to use the CD as
a hard drive and therefore SAVE the files. It does require you to FORMAT the CD
using either Nero (InCD) or Roxio ('drag to disk', as far as I remember). It
takes a long time to format a CD that way. If you use a CD RW, you can also
delete the whole disk and start over. It is messy and I prefer to have a folder
which holds items I need to save permanently and when there are sufficient to
nearly fill a CD, I will burn that folder to the CD and when I have made sure
that all is on the CD, I can then happily delete the item on the folder on the
hard drive.
