In your fist post you stated that you deleted layout.ini.

Did you mean layout.dll?

Sorry, i made one mistake. I unchecked "Auto Arrange", restarted and tried
again to move an icon.
But i didn´t watch the check in fornt of Auto Arrange returned. What ever
i change on the desktop settings will be ignored it seems.

I can´t get rid of AutoArrange and i can´t save the desired positions of
the icons.
