It is unlikely to boot, even if seen, as the hardware has changed.
Its possible that your mobo requires you to install sata/raid drivers from
floppy during the installation/repair of winxp
Install the disk on the ide drive, end connector, the cable should have
another connector you can plug into the CD.
Then repair winxp and install mobo chipset and other drivers.
Or a better solution, buy a sata drive, clean install winxp
PS Next time read the specs of what you are buying

Hi,
I hope someone can help me with this - my brother just bought a new
motherboard, processor, memory and case and has put it all together.
We've only now discovered that the board had 1 IDE port and he only has
an ATA HD plus a dvd drive and cd burner. So, he bought a IDE to SATA
adaptor so he could plug his ATA HD into a SATA port (of which there
are 6).
Here is the problem - the IDE HD already has XP installed so is his
boot drive, but it's not being recognized on startup.
Any clues what we are doing wrong or how to get the disk recognized and
booting?
All help gratefully received!
Ian
