RE: Problem burning DVD

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Either replace it or make sure it is snug & secure, usually when replacing
optical or HDD's there is a new IDE data cable included in the retail
package.. I would just hate to see you put it in the shop for a lose cable
connection..
I would fix or get it fixed first, then troubleshoot your burning software,
may just need an update..?
Or get the Geek squad involved, your call..
Cheers

as of right now, I haven't replaced anything. I don't know too much about
computers. I was hoping to see if anyone had any thoughts on what i posted.

replaced.

Ok so here goes, comp has never had any problems before. Now all of a sudden
I'm having problems burning dvds. sometimes (twice since problem started) it
works and produces a workable disk, and the majority of the time, it doesn't
(i've ruined about 17 disks so far) ... it writes the disk, the timer hits
0:00:00 on remaining time, but the duration counter keeps ticking. if I'm
lucky after a few minutes it'll say burn complete successful but the disk
won't work. Now I've had times where I have to ejecct the DVD to get it to
stop from trying to finish the disk because it seems to lock up the program.
After I eject the program goes back to proper fuction. Now I've gone into the
computer management and discovered that almost every time i write a disk now
the following error has shown up. I'm thinking of taking it to the geek squad
since I have the protection plan but don't want to unless i really need to,
so I'm hoping someone here may be able to help me out before falling back on
my last option of going to the geeks.
