Thanks for your reply. I'd already downloaded the utility you suggested
but the trouble is that I can't get to the start menu because my
computer is stuck in a loop.

Hi,

I've been having trouble getting around a boot up problem. On start
up
I get the error message "lsass.exe - Bad File The attributes of the
specified mapping file for a section of memory cannot be read". I've
done some searching on the internet and find that windows has a patch
for this problem and that my system may be infected with virus. I've
downloaded the windows patch and a program to get rid of the virus
but
I can't get windows to load long enough to install the software.
I've been trying to follow instructions that say "To stop the
shutdown,
click start/run" but in my case clicking the OK button on the above
error message restarts the the machine and I'm stuck in a loop. How
can
I get to start button?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
