And what happens when SFC compares SP1 files on the CD to the SP2 DLLCACHE
files on the system?

"If you have installed SP2, and only have the SP1 Windows XP CD, you will
need to slipstream"
Probably not Necessary.
As long as the necessary files have not been deleted there is no need to
slipstream a CD for SFC to function properly.
The most you should need is the disk originally used to install Windows.

Windows sfc /scannow checks that the drivers and dlls match what was
installed against what is actually on the system.
If you have not copied the i386 folder from the Windows XP Installation
CD, you will need the CD of what is installed on your system.
If you have installed SP2, and only have the SP1 Windows XP CD, you will
need to slipstream the SP2 servicepack with the i386 folder from the
Windows XP CD inorder for sfc /scannow to work.
