Thanks for your prompt reply NewScience.
Although this is uncharted territoryfor me , I found how to, and I've done
as suggested.

I ran CHKDSK /r and YES and the disc was checked when I re started my PC.

This took about 45 minutes but sad to report System restore still not
available.

Many thanks for your advice and help as it is another avenue for trouble
shooting I have learned about

Hello .
Not sure I'm in the right place but there seems to be a lot of helpful
people here.

Could you please help me resolve a problem I've had for some
time
with my Windows XP Home Editions most usefull System Restore function.
Although I regularly create Restore Points, my computer will not Restore.
I have spent a lot of time looking through the online Help files but was
unable to find any help withthis particular Error Message

e.g.
Restoration Incomplete

Your computer cannot be restored to

12th December 2006
Removed Creative WebCam Center

No changes have been made to your computer.

To Choose another Restore Point, restart Systm Restore.

During my search for help I found an article on Improper Shut Down.

This may be the cause of the problem because as quite often after using
Start/Standby/Shutdown/Restart
my PC often reaches the "Windows is Shutting Down" screen and then just
hangs . the longest time I have left it in this state is 1 hour , after
which
I can only shut down by diconnection the power supply.

Could you please help and advise me on how to restore the availablity of
this helpfull and usefull facility.
