Knowing what file extension would help.
I suspect .jpg.
Go here...
Windows® XP File Association Fixes
Copyright 2003 - Doug Knox
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm
Read the instructions. Then get...
EXE File Association Fix (Restore default association for EXE files)
Also get one or the other of these, if you messed with those file
associations.
JPE/JPG/JPEG Association Fix (Restore the default associations for
jpe/jpg/jpeg files)
or
TIF/TIFF File Association Fix (Restores default associations for TIF/TIFF
files)
In the future, use this method.
To change file associations
1. Right-click a file with the extension whose association you want to
change, and then click Open With.
2. In the Open With dialog box, click the program where you want the file to
open, or click Browse to locate the program that you want.
3. Select the Always use the selected program to open this kind of file
check box.
Also see these, if Doug Knox's fix didn't help for .exe...
EXE files always open with Notepad or any other application

Hi!! I need major help!! I was trying to right click on a picture to edit
but i received an error message stating that there was no program
associated with it and to create an association in the folder options. I
tried to create a new extension using infranview ( which I now realize
wasn't the smartest thing to do) but now every program opens in
infranview. I can't even uninstall infranview since when I go to "add or
remove programs" it goes directly into infranview. How do I undo this???
