Re: Windows XP- How to get into Safe Mode?

You need to post the *exact* err msg, together with the Stop error code that
appears on the blue screen.
Otherwise its just a stab in the dark

Ok, well I held F8 a long time and a new menu came up with a couple more
options and it had an option that said something like 'Disable automatic
restart' so I did that and now when I try to log onto my name a big blue
screen comes up saying my computer has been shut off because its
protecting
it or something and that comes up every time I select safe mode or
anything.
I found the start up disk and put it in and that same blue screen came up
and
it said like it had emptied all junk or something (I forgot exactly what
it
said) and then it said to contract someone for further help.. so help!
please! :(

Yesterday my computer was not working and whenver I tried logging onto
my
name (the only name on the computer), my computer would just restart.
Or
if I
let it sit for 10 seconds the computer would restart as well.. I tried
for
around 50 times and it would restart everytime untill I unplugged it.
So I pressed F8 repetivily while it was starting up the next day after
getting advice from some people and it brought me to a menu of safe
modes.
I
tried all of the three safe modes it showed over five times each and
it
also
showed something that said something like 'Start computer before it
was
broken' something like that and whenver I choose any of them, it will
show
a
code that keeps scrolling down the screen until it fills the screen
and
then
the computer just restarts again and brings me back to safe mode.
I cant even get back to the blue screen that lets me log onto a name
now.

I want help on how to get into safe mode without my computer
restarting I
made another topic here:

http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/newsgroups/reader/default.mspx?dg=microsoft.private.security.spyware.general&lang=en&cr=US&r=33d293cc-19b6-404b-865b-565a73822c7f

and no one gave me advice that worked. :(

Help! :(

I had this error. Had to format my HDD, though there might be a fix for
it,
I never found it. Do you have an XP startup disc? If so, try to boot
from
there.
