Hi all,

I am helping a friend who just got home from the hospital after a stroke.
She is running Winxp Home. After she got back from the hospital her system
started acting up so I looked at it and the fix required a reboot. After
rebooting we find that she does not remember her login password. Being
Winxp Home it shows the users at boot time and there is no option for
administrator just her account.

Is there some way I can force a pw reset or create a new admin account
with out her password?

Thanks!

Jeff

Yes, you just need to boot in Safe Mode and the Administrator account will
be shown. On XP Home, that account is only visible in Safe Mode. Its
default password is blank (just press enter). Press F8 at power-on
startup to get to the selection screen for Safe Mode. Once in, you can
reset the password via Control Panel, Users.
