you didnt mention where you
bought your version of win xp. if
it came from china or other
country of mass reproductions, it is unlikely that
you will be able to download/update
anything irregardless of your antivirus.
hence, the missing file might be
the windows genuine check file that is
encrypted and untransferable without
"genuine" software.

Hi!
I live in Sweden, and I recently bought a U.S. version of Win XP, and
installed it on my computer. It worked fine (apart from not being able to
download anything from the the Win update page... the automatic update
function worked however), but my virus program interrupted the download of
SP2, so I had to abort the installation. The next time I started my pc, XP
wouldn't load. All I got was that there was a file missing.
Anyway, to my question, trying to make things easier for myself; can I use
a
Swedish SP2 disc to upgrade my U.S. copy of XP, or are there some
differences
in programming between countries, that would cause problems with my
current
XP?
Grateful for your answers!
Cheers!
