Re: Help with missing DLL file

Now it makes more sense thanks. I'm a novice with this sort of stuff
so assumed that when I got the error on startup it was a windows file
that was meant to be there. So to be a pain but just a couple more
queries now;
Does that mean that some of the virus may still be on the machine as
I keep getting this error message on startup and if so how do I get

It's *probably* just a reference to the virus that you need to delete, not
the virus itself.

rid as Norton doesn't seem to do it?
I have run a full norton scan on numerous occasions and keep getting
on average 8 x dialer.generic .exe files detected which norton
deletes. Could this be anything to do with the other virus?

Yes, it could be, but I don't know for sure, since I don't klnow what virus
you had.

Lastly and sorry to be a pain but I ran the trend micro scan again
which found another trojan file "winuqw32.dll". Trend micro couldn't
delete it for some reason though. Is this a windows file

No, it's the Trojan Smitfraud. Read here:
http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Smitfraud_Trojan

or if not is
the best way to delete it in safe mode?
Also is norton any good or is it better to get something else?

In my view, Norton is the worst possible choice.

Ah I understand now, thanks. I've tried the online scan too which
just got rid of some spyware but now i'm unsure as to how I replace
the missing DLL file as I can't find anywhere online to download it.
Does it even need to be replaced?

Not only does it not *need* to be replaced, you don't want to
replace it. It's not a Windows file, but almost certainly was the
virus (or part of the virus) that Norton deleted.

It means your sys was infected and Norton could'nt deal with it, or
leastways only removed some of its files
Try an online scan at Trend Micro

Hopefully someone has an idea what this is. First off i'm new to
the newsgroups so if i've posted in the wrong one I apologise
first off. A few days ago morton antivirus software detected some
infected dll files on my pc which it then decided to delete as
they couldnt' be repaired. One of these files was "eubaqsj.dll"
. Now on startup I get the following error message
" C:\windows\system32\eubaqsj.dll
the specified module could not be found"
Everything seems to work ok apart from for a few minutes on
startup media player seems to be very jittery ( not sure if even
connected, just started at same time!)
I've searched for this file online but can't find anything to help
me and don't have the xp disc as it came preloaded on my machine.
Any ideas whatsoever would be greatly appreciated.
