reappear. I can access Explorer in safe mode and in regular operating mode
only via the system tray 'Desktop' toolbar. Via that toolbar I go to My
Computer....which shows me the drives and files on those drives. I can then
work with the drives and files, but this is a very slow method. Again, I have
no problem accessing Explorer.exe and all its files in safe mode.
I am receiving the following error logs in the 'Event Viewer' of Windows XP:
In the System folder of Event Viewer this message is logged:
"The IMAPI CD-Buring COM Service service entered the stopped state.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp"
In the Application folder of Event Viewer the following is logged:
"The shell stopped unexpectedly and Explorer.exe was restarted
For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp"
When I click on the links above, I am taken to information pages that tell
me there is NO information on this problem.
I have done several deep scans of my system with three anti-spyware
programs. No spyware is found on these scans. I have done a deep scan of my
system with my antivirus/firewall program which also contains an anti-spyware
program....no viruses or spyware are found. I do not want to do a system
restore because I am unsure what the exact date was when this problem began
to occur. I am concerned about the critical updates I have installed and feel
a rollback to a date I would have to choose at random might cause even more
problems.
Does this problem have something to do with IE7 perhaps? I was using the IE7
Beta and had no problem with Explorer.exe. I updated to the recently released
IE7 in the past week. This is a very odd problem. I am an experienced pc
user. Nothing I have tried so far has helped. Any suggestions would be
greatly appreciated.

Please do these step one ata time and let us know:
1 → Open a Run Command and type : CHKDSK /F then clcik [OK] and wait for it
to finish then Reboot your Machine.
2 → Open Run Command → Run type : MSCONFIG click [OK]
on the Configuration window click on StartUp Tab and *uncheck* recently
installed Applications/Programs and Reboot then try to reproduce the Problem
if it didn't appear the try to enable/Restart the Applications/Programs in
the StartUp One by one and see which cause the Problem and Uninstall it then
you can reinstall may the application has adamaged File causing the issue to
occur.
3 → On the IE Properties try to see what BHO/ ActiveX are installed on your
computer and send them here or search for them on MS Search o know what they
are.
4 → Do you have Java Installed and what Version, if old one try to uninstall
it and Download the newer version fron sun.com.
5 → If all fail try to do System Restore to an earlier Date when things were
in a working order, then you can install the IE release version no the Beta
although some says just wait to see how stable it is and if there is a Sec
Hole in it.
