Thanks for the reply, Shenan. I am in the middle of Trans-Atlantic ICQ chat
just now, but will post back later my progress.

Without having to select an Identity when Windows loads??
I know that Windows creates a seperate Administrator Identity when
it is first loaded onto a new hard-drive, but I am the sole user of
my Windows XP Home Edition PC, with Administrator rights and used
to be able to load Windows on boot-up and go straight to my desktop.
Since installing all the latest updates after upgrading my
hard-drive recently, I cannot do this. I am met with the choice to
log on to my individual Identity, unless I boot-up into Safe Mode,
where I am given the option of my own Identity or that of
Administator and it is driving me nuts!
I have three accounts listed in user accounts - my own (as computer
administrator), ASP.NET Machine A... (as a Limited account Password
Protected) and 'Guest' (which is turned off) and I have changed
the way users log off by unchecking the 'Use fast user switching'
option. I still have 'Use the Welcome screen' checked. I don't
really want to uncheck this option as I do not want to revert to
the classic style of log-on - I want to bypass that completely and
go straight into my desktop?!
Using "control userpasswords2" sees three accounts - my own,
administrator and ASPNET - all with administrator rights.
Can anyone please help me to get straight to my desktop when
Windows loads up??
Microsoft method:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315231
Microsoft Method 2:
TweakUI from:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx
control userpasswords2 method:
1) Go to the Start Menu and the Run box.
2) Type in the following:
control userpasswords2
now click OK
3) In the new Windows that appears select the account you wish to make the
primary logon.
Now uncheck the "Users must enter a username and password..." box.
4) Hit Apply and a dialog box will appear asking you to confirm the selected
users password.
Click OK when you are done...
