You say that as if it were an advantage, but actually that makes using
Regedit very dangerous. Many of us wish that it did *not* save everything
automatically.


Anyway, my nephew has warned me that changing a single thing on this
file can destroy all the operating systems in the computer, so I make
sure I don't do anything except look at it and wonder how utterly
complex the whole universe must be if this small file is a
representative sample.


Your nephew is right--there are possible changes that can stop Windows from
booting. That, coupled with the fact that saving of changes is automatic, is
why I strongly recommend that you do *not* do what your are doing. Wonder
about the complexity of the universe if you must, but do it someplace else,
not somewhere where an accidental keystoke can render your computer
unbootable.

Regedit is a place for skilled users to make changes to the registry. It's
not for beginners at all.
