I periodically run these utilites but have never done so on the drive tha contains the operating system. Should I run and with fix automatically checked? What about defrag?

Funny! I have two partitions on my internal disc and an external USB disc and the only one I ever defragment is the system partition. Once in a long while, I check the states of the other discs but they have not needed defragmentation in a year.
