My PC was recently moved so all of the leads had to be unplugged from
both the screen and the computer. I've put it all back together with
no problems and everything is working except I have no sound at all.
I don't have speakers, the sound is intigrated. I've checked the
manual for the audio lead connection from the screen and I have got
the lead plugged in to the correct place (no option actually, it
wouldn't fit anywhere except one place in the back of the screen and
one place (marked with an icon of a screen) in the computer. I've
gone into control panel and there doesn't seem to be anything amiss
there. I'm using Windows XP. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure that you have hooked things up properly so I'm going to
discuss some of the ways your monitor and speakers may be connected to
your computer.

Go to this site and look at the plug:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VGA_connector

This is a VGA video connector and does NOT carry any audio signals. Your
statement that the cable connects to

one place (marked with an icon of a screen)

makes me believe that you are talking about a video cable, not an audio
cable. The picture of a 'screen' is a symbol for a video connection, not
an audio connection. The picture at wikipedia will verify if this is the
case. If the cable you have connected matches the cable on Wikipedia then
it is the video cable and does not carry any audio signals. If that is
correct then there should be another cable for your integrated speakers.

A newer type of video only plug is shown here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVI

This plug, like the one above does NOT carry any audio signals.

If you don't have the above plugs, the you may have this one:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI

An HDMI plug, unlike the plugs above, may have integrated audio
connections. In that which case your speakers may be properly connected
though this cable.

If you have an HDMI plug then you can stop here as I have nothing further
to contribute at this time. If you do not have an HDMI plug then read on.

I'll assume your integrated speakers are mounted on, or are part of, your
monitor. If so, then you must find another cable connected to your
monitor or a jack that will accept an audio cable. If you cannot find
another cable or jack then it is likely that your monitor does not have
integrated speakers. Go to this site for a picture of what an audio plug
might look like:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_plug

If you have stereo sound then the second plug from the right is the most
likely candidiate. Finally, you must locate a jack on your PC which will
accept the audio plug connected to your integrated speakers.

If you know the make and model of your PC it might help if you posted
that information.

HTH
Good Luck
