Seems that was only temporary. It has begun freezing again. My IT head
said I should disable the drivers one by one to single out the one that
may be causing the problem. The only thing is, there are so so many of
them. There has to be an easier way to do it.

a) try reinstall Avg, ewido anti-spyware 4.0, and the other software
mencioned or uncheck all the items in start/run/type: msconfig (enter) go to
start and uncheck all...after restart and see again the msconfig and if
there any items check repeat the action and after check event viewer
again...are the same error list? (look the time for to know what hapened)

Okay, in the system folder there are a ton of errors. It says the
source is "Service Control Manager"
What do I do from here?

Hello,
My issue is with XP freezing on me with no provocation. I just start
my
computer and within 5 minutes no matter what I do it freezes on me.
I've tried system restore to no avail. It works fine in safe mode
(which is how I was able to use system restore.) I am using Service
pack 2 with I believe the latest updates. I have gone through and
removed any programs I thought may be the cause, but this also did
nothing.
I'd love to just fix this with a few simple steps, but if it goes
beyond that is there a way to reinstall windows while leaving data
intact? (i.e. replace all windows files, but leave folders like My
Documents alone.)
